CORRESPONDENCE
All regular mail (postcards, letters, greeting cards, etc.) for incarcerated individuals are scanned. Incarcerated individuals will be able to read that mail on electronic tablets.
All postal mail must be sent to:

The incarcerated persons name and id number must be clearly printed on the outside of the envelope or postcard to ensure proper delivery.
PHONE SERVICE
The Newport News Sheriff’s Office operates a secure inmate phone system under contract with Securus Technologies, Inc. Securus offers a number of payment product options to connect with incarcerated individuals. To set up an account with Securus please visit www.securustech.net
Customer Service
If you are having trouble receiving calls from an incarcerated individual, would like to block/unblock your phone or if you have billing issues, contact Securus through their toll-free number 1-800-844-6591 or www.securustech.net. Securus is available 24 hours a day, seven days a week.

VISITATION
The Newport News Sheriff’ Office does not allow for in-person visitation with certain exceptions provided for attorneys and clergy. The Newport News Sheriff’s Office encourages video visits with incarcerated individuals to maintain ties with their families and friends.
Jail Kiosks
There is FREE video visitation through kiosks at the Jail Annex for friends and family of incarcerated individuals. To use video visitation, you must create an account with Securus Technologies and then schedule the visits online. Video visits are available daily from 9 a.m. to 11 p.m.
Individuals using the video kiosks, will be required to produce photo identification and verification of their date of birth. Wearing inappropriate clothing (such as provocative or revealing clothes) may result in denial of visitation. In general, dress conservatively and modestly.
At Home
Utilizing your computer, webcam and high-speed Internet access, at home visitation, lets you connect via the Internet with incarcerated individuals no matter where you are. To use video visitation, you must create an account with Securus Technologies and then schedule the visits online.
When available, at home visitation is by appointment daily from 9 a.m. to 9 p.m.
The Newport News Sheriff’s Office is unable to assist with troubleshooting or account concerns with Secures. If you experience a problem with the audio or video reception during your visit, notify Securus Technical Support at 866-558-2323. Please contact Securus Technologies Customer Service for ALL service concerns.
