The Newport News Sheriff’s Office is the leader in the state in providing re-entry services to incarcerated individuals. The mission of the Sheriff’s Office re-entry team is to provide opportunities for education, housing, employment, mental health services, substance abuse treatment and other social services to ensure the successful reintegration of individuals transitioning from the criminal justice system into the community.
The team has a focused approach to improve public safety, reduce recidivism, reduce substance abuse, reduce homelessness, improve health and wellness, increase employment, increase family connectedness and increase systems collaboration. The team’s collaboration with various city and state agencies has proven to be effective in providing services and resources within the community.
