NNSO is 7-time Best for Vets Employer
For the fifth consecutive year and the seventh time in nine years, the Newport News Sheriff’s Office has been recognized as a Best for Vets Employer by the Military Times, acknowledging our commitment to veterans, reservists, and their families.
The NNSO is the only Virginia law enforcement agency to make the 2024 Best for Vets list and one of only three in the country.
Like Sheriff Gabe Morgan, an Army veteran, more than four dozen of our deputy sheriffs and civilians honorably served their country; several staff members are still answering the call in the National Guard and Reserves.
The Best for Vets survey looked at our efforts to recruit military-connected personnel and the policies we have to help them succeed in their civilian careers. The NNSO values men and women who want to make a difference as they transition from military service.
“Hampton Roads is a military community. Many servicemembers decide it's a great place to live and work after their service. Veterans have many qualities that make them a good fit to join Team NNSO,” Sheriff Morgan stated. “We have positions open for deputy sheriffs, and we welcome applications from transitioning military, military spouses, veterans, and reservists.”
Jon Simkins, executive editor of Sightline Media Group, said, “The rigorous, unbiased analysis that goes into this survey has created a competitive environment where companies recognize the value of veterans and military families and seek to reflect that in their policies and programs.”
