Newport News SO makes Best for Vets: Employers list for the fifth time
For the fifth time, the Newport News Sheriff’s Office is a recognized Best for Vets Employer by the Military Times.
We’re the only local law enforcement agency on the 2022 list and one of only three in Virginia.
Nearly a third of Sheriff’s Office personnel are veterans; many others still serve in the Guard and Reserve or are military spouses.
Sheriff Gabe Morgan is a U.S. Army veteran. He values having veterans on his team.
“What we do depends on teamwork. We deal with challenging environments and people from diverse backgrounds. Veterans have done that, too. Their strong work ethic and desire to serve others also make them well-suited to make the transition to deputy sheriff with us,” he says.
Being on the Best for Vets list acknowledges the Newport News Sheriff’s Office’s commitment to recruiting, retaining, and supporting current and former service members, military spouses, and military caregivers.
230 companies, organizations, and law enforcement agencies completed the Best for Vets survey; 175 were selected for the list.
