NNSO badgeServices Bureau

Deputies and civilians in the Services Bureau work in Judicial Services/Court Security, Civil Enforcement, and Transportation.

Court security personnel serve as bailiffs and screeners and they are the first line of security for the city’s three courthouses and 13 courtrooms.

Sworn and civilian personnel make up the Civil Enforcement section.  They work diligently to execute civil documents like summonses, warrants of eviction, and protective orders. The men and women in Civil Enforcement handle tens of thousands of documents each year.

Transportation is responsible for the movement of inmates, whether within the city or outside Newport News, to include extraditions from other states.

Other responsibilities of Services Bureau personnel include Property and Evidence, Fleet Management, and the processing of unclaimed bodies by investigating and contacting next of kin and/or coordinating court orders for disposal of remains.

Services also coordinates schedules for security for the City of Newport News shelters during emergencies.

Captains K. Gross and T. Davis serve as Judicial Services administrators.
